Control Case - Main Monitor
This is the main monitor in the control case. During the show it is switched between 2 rack-mount computers, one controlling foreground elements, the other controlling background elements. The interface you see here is for “ArKaos” which is run on both computers. This ArKaos interface is on our Foreground PC.

The 2 red keys represent active layers. The red key on the left is Video Feed 1 (the background computer) and the red key on the right is the news crawl. (which can be seen on the bottom of the output preview in the center of the screen)

The key to the right of the “Video Feed 1” key is “Video Feed2,” (our DV deck) which is used for playing remote camera crew segments.

The key to the right of “Video Feed 2” is the “Title” key. This activates the on-screen titles used during the opening of green screen and remote scenes. This lets us display the name of the news anchor over the green screen or remote video feed.

All 3 of those keys (Video Feed 1, Video Feed 2, and the Title key) are assigned to midi channels, allowing me to fade those elements in and out using sliders on the Korg MicroKontrol keyboard.

The keys on the next row down include the intro video sequence for the talk show scene we do at the start of every AVAN show, and a still frame to display after the talk show intro.

The keys on the next row down include the intro & credit sequences for the news show.

The keys on the next row down are all various styles of 3D “AV” logos.

On the upper right of the keyboard layout (the “Backspace” and “+” keys) you can see a couple keys that are used to display various types of on-screen text during the show.

Below those keys are video sequences for editing to and from commercial brakes.

All the other keys are bound to various effects.
